It is the custom of Wiccans to ask the souls of the beloved departed back to this plane to be honored and remembered on Samhain. I called Pumpkin and Molly, Mickey's sister who passed over in July of 2007, to come back, with the following poem, which you are all welcome to use to remember your special little furpersons and familiars: Just this side of heaven is a place THE

When an animal that has been especially close to someone here dies, he
goes to THE
RAINBOW BRIDGE.
There are meadows and hills, plenty of good food and water, gentle
breezes and lots of sunshine. All of the animals that have been ill, or are old, are
restored to health and vigor. Those who
were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in
our dreams of days gone by. The animals
are happy and content except for one small thing: they each miss someone very
special to them who has, for now, been left behind. They are run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops
and looks into the distance. His bright
eyes are intent; you have been
spotted. Suddenly he begins to run from
the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and
faster. And when you and your special
friend meet, yours hands caress the beloved head, and you look once more into
the trusting eyes of your beloved pet, so long gone from your life but never
